with Ben Askren, Arizona St. University Assistant Coach; 2X NCAA Champ and 2X Dan Hodge Trophy winner from the University of Missouri
Ben Askren's style has been described as many things: "one-of-a-kind," "unorthodox," "crazy" and "funky." The fact is that these "funk" positions happen in the natural flow of the match. These same situations have been seen at all levels - from high school duals to the NCAA Championships. Now for the first time ever Ben Askren shares his "funk" technique with you. Askren breaks down his three main "funk" techniques from the feet: the Pass, Double Ankles and a move he calls: "The World's Best Unknown Move." Each move is broken down step-by-step from multiple angles. In addition, he provides counters to each move, as well as a defense against each counter. As a bonus he also shares his defensive technique against the High Crotch and Double Leg takedowns. Mastering this "funk" style of wrestling will give you a leg up on the best competition.
with John Smith, Oklahoma State University Head Coach, 2006, '05, '04, '03 & 1995 NCAA Champions; 2X Olympic Gold Medalist and NCAA Champion
John Smith looks at a number of common "bad" situations you find yourself in once you get stopped on a takedown attempt - and how to come out of those positions and score. In this wrestling DVD, Coach Smith concentrates on two main areas - the single leg and high crotch. He shows how to score when you are on your stomach in extended position with hands locked, in a front headlock position, in an underhook and more. He closes the DVD with a couple drills he uses with his wrestlers to reinforce these techniques. These are positions you don't want to be in, but if you get there you can still win the battle and score. These techniques are the same ones he used with great success - winning six consecutive world championships, and will definitely make a difference for you in a match. They will help you recover from a bad shot and put points on the board once you have been stopped. This instructional wrestling DVD is truly a "one-of-a-kind"!

with Rob Koll, Cornell University Head Coach; 2005 NWCA Division I Coach of the Year; 2009, 2008, 2007 EIWA Conference Champions; 2X World Cup Champion, NCAA Champ and 4X All-American
In this demonstration clinic presentation, Coach Koll provides more than 12 drills that reinforce proper defensive technique to help wrestlers defend their legs. These are the same drills Koll uses in at Cornell, which has led the Big Red to back-to-back top 5 finishes in the NCAA Tournament. He begins with nine drills that concentrate on proper inside position focusing on the head and hands as it pertains to defense. Drills include Underhooks, Hand Locks, Hips & Legs, Cat Climb, Run the Pipe, Turn the Key and more. From there, Koll demonstrates techniques and drills to defend against the Low Single and High Crotch. He closes with short presentations on Pass-bys and Whizzers. These drills are easy to teach, and allow for a large number of repetitions in a short amount of time. You get the benefit of quality drilling time that leaves a lot of time for teaching. With this DVD your wrestlers will not give up easy takedowns again.
with Randy Lewis, 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist; 2X NCAA Champ, 4X All-American for the University of Iowa
Randy Lewis presents a counter offense DVD like no other. As a wrestler, Lewis used to bait opponents into shooting a single or high crotch. His philosophy was that no matter where he was on the mat, he was in position to score. Now, in this clinic demonstration, Lewis passes along the techniques that made him one of the most dangerous wrestlers from the feet. Once your opponent gets a leg, Lewis wants to do one of two things - square the hips or get the man to his knees. In each position, Lewis shows a number of different moves that will allow your wrestler to score - and even put his opponent to his back. In addition, he shows how to score if the opponent has your wrestler's foot in the air, if he collapses the leg, and how to score from a low single shot. These techniques are more than defensive moves - they will allow your wrestlers to always be on the offense!
If you don't have the quickest, strongest wrestlers, the whizzer can be a great equalizer. Wrestling legend Bill Smith demonstrates all the subtleties of applying a whizzer and making it count. Use it to get an escape or to score! Smith shows you moves for getting a whizzer and moves for stopping any counter, both from the mat and from the feet. If your opponent has hit his single, a good whizzer will make him think twice about doing it again. 1998. 55 minutes.

From there he moves into his "funk" style of counter offense, showing how to defend against a crack down. Cooperman goes in-depth on his cross block technique, showing five different takedown counters from it. He thoroughly covers each move, showing it from different angles while pointing out the key steps to making each move successful. An excellent DVD to add to your takedown arsenal.

"On Top of the World is a great instruction tool for both coaches and athletes and offers unique insight into Phil's proven technique. I'd highly recommend Phil's DVD to any wrestler who wants to improve their top position." -Mark Perry 2X NCAA Champion at the University of Iowa
When your opponent takes a shot, he takes a risk by coming out of his safe position and exposes himself to be scored upon. Coach Strobel teaches his wrestlers to not just defend themselves, but put themselves in position to score. His counter offense techniques create high percentage moves that win matches. Strobel begins with six different drills to work on counter offense, including the down block, shoelace and shot/reshot drills. These drills not only fine-tune your wrestler's technique, but serve as good warm-up drills as well. He then demonstrates at least three different counter offense techniques for the single and high crotch. In addition he passes along "tricks" your wrestlers can use to score if his opponent happens to get in deep with any of those two moves. Strobel also covers how to turn double-leg defense into points. Once you get your wrestlers thinking they can score, instead of just defending themselves, their odds to score become better.

Coach Cysewski developed the series wrestling former teammate at the University of Iowa, Chuck Yagla (a two-time NCAA Champion and 1980 Olympian). Cysewski demonstrates step-by-step the proper positioning, set-up and key teaching points on how to properly hit the move starting from a single leg attack. From there he covers using the seatbelt from double leg attacks, the referee's position and other various positions. He also shows defense and counters to the move. This "old-school" move is simple and safe to use and will lead to big points for your wrestlers.
